Fall Trends and Style Guide
Fall is a season of transformation and change, and that’s reflected in the changing interior design trends. From classic warm neutrals to vintage decor, here are the top trends we love this fall.
1. Earthy Tones & Warm Neutrals

This fall, we’re seeing a shift toward earthy tones like terracotta, ochre, burnt orange, deep browns, and olive green. Think of the colors of changing leaves, fall sunsets, and seasonal foods like pumpkins and gourds. These hues evoke a warm, cozy, and grounded feel that’s perfect for bringing warmth indoors during the cooler months. Ever-popular warm neutrals like beige, soft taupe, and greige remain sought after as a backdrop for bolder accent colors.
2. Textured Walls
After years of sleek, smooth walls being the dominant trend, textures are making a big statement this season. Materials like limewash, plaster, and textured wallpaper create visual depth. These add a tactile element and can warm up a room, giving it a sophisticated, lived-in look. This trend can be especially impactful on accent walls or in smaller spaces.
3. Vintage & Sustainable Decor
Sustainable design is in, and vintage pieces are increasingly in high demand as people prioritize history and character over modern design. Adding vintage elements to a room, whether through one-of-a-kind vintage furniture or family heirloom pieces, is a great way to add a unique touch to the space. Along with vintage decor comes a heightened focus on sustainability, and recycled and upcycled materials are starting to take center stage.
Tumble designer Kerri Besse emphasizes the popularity of this trend, sharing that “There is a big movement to recycle in more unexpected ways. It’s a more upscale approach to recycling/reusing. The vintage stores I have been into lately feel like you are in a store with new products by the way they are being styled with more modern accents!”
4. Curved Furniture
The trend of curved furniture shows no signs of slowing down. Sofas, chairs, and coffee tables with soft, rounded edges are being used to create a welcoming and comfortable vibe. The trend ties into the larger emphasis on creating cozy, nurturing environments at home.
5. Natural Materials
Bringing nature indoors continues to be a trend, with a heavy focus on materials like wood, stone, rattan, and clay. These natural elements help create a warm and earthy atmosphere that feels timeless and grounding. Handcrafted decor items, in particular, are being showcased for their artisanal and raw qualities.
As Tumble designer Kerri Besse puts it: “Fiber art is finally being taken seriously. You can make beautiful elements for your home out of fabric strips, found objects, and natural elements.”
6. Layered Lighting
Lighting plays a key role in creating the perfect fall ambiance. This season emphasizes layered lighting – a mix of pendant lights, floor lamps, and table lamps. In particular, Warm, dimmable lighting is used to create cozy, intimate spaces.
7. Moody, Dramatic Spaces
Dark, moody tones like deep navy, charcoal, and forest green are trending in interior design. These shades create a dramatic contrast with lighter, softer furnishings. Moody color palettes paired with rich textures, like velvet or wool, provide depth and drama to rooms.
8. Biophilic Design
Incorporating greenery and nature into interior spaces continues, but it’s evolving. Biophilic design goes beyond just adding plants – it integrates nature into architecture and design through materials, textures, and even shapes that mimic natural forms. Think large picture windows, water features, or materials that reflect natural landscapes.
9. Bold Patterns & Wallpaper
Statement wallpaper is making a solid comeback, particularly in bold florals, geometric patterns, and nature-inspired prints. These designs bring life to any space, whether a powder room, hallway, or accent wall. Bold statement wallpapers are also perfect for creating a vibrant playspace for children or an enhancing nursery.
10. Maximalist Layering
While minimalism has its place, maximalism is having a moment. Its focus is on layering textures, patterns, and colors. It’s about creating spaces that are rich and visually intriguing. Think patterned throw blankets, pillows in varying textures, and mixing vintage with modern elements.
According to Tumble designer Kerri Besse, “Cottage Core seems to be on its way out. Maximalist layering is more about stripes, plaids, and colors than florals.”
